A new journal has joined my planning team since the beginning of Q3 : my blog bullet journal. It’s a Habana notebook by QuoVadis. I’m using it to plan and manage about everything that is happening on the blog and social medias. I created quarterly and yearly collections (stats, weekly routine, quarterly review, goals, dynamic editorial calendar) and collection for my posts (one collection per post). This blog journal allows me to gather all the information needed in one place. All the blog related tasks and rutine trackers are managed with my personal bullet journal. There’s definitely a synegy between thoses two tools.

The main reason I started to use the bullet journal system was that I wanted to better manage my personal projects and make them move forward faster. But it’s not always easy to plan things and set a strategy up to meet goals and complete projects. So I started to use the methods and tools I use at work as a project manager to better manage my personal projects in my bullet journal. I’m starting with the very beginning of the projects : how to get started with a new project, how to prioritize a list of projects and draw an action plan. I used a 3 steps process to sort things out.

The beginning of a new quarter calls the need of migrating my bullet journal in a new notebook! My whole planning system is based on quarters: three months is enough time to plan big projects, and yet short enough to keep my goals in mind. So here I am, starting a new bullet journal to welcome 2017 Q3, and I hope that it will help me to stay focused on my goals (just like my old bullet journal did) and bring my projects to reality. Here are the first pages of my bullet journal, and how I intend to get organized for the next 3 months (featuring a lot of quarterly and monthly collections, and trustfull weekly layouts).

When I came across the bullet journal system about 2 years ago, I knew my set-up will include a weekly something, as it’s natural for me to work on a weekly basis. So as soon as I started my very first bullet journal, I started to use a weekly log to better visualize my task list… But it took me months, and a lot of attempts (and failures) to find the weekly layout that fits my needs. Here’s a retrospective of my experimentations trough 6 weekly layouts I’ve been using before coming to a weekly log that works for me.

It’s not always easy to find information in a bullet journal as everything is mixed up among under of pages. The key is to index the content as you create it, using the index but not only. Some hacks are super helpful to better organize and index information and to fin dit in seconds. I created section in my index, use edge indexing on a daily basis and decided to use a separated notebook for long term collections. These planner hacks are meant to help you find content in your current bullet journal but can also be used in your achived ones.

My bullet journal is a great tool to manage projects and task lists, but it also allows me to reach my goals. On of these goals is to find budget balance. Managing my expenses in my bullet journal by keeping a budget for each area of expense helps me to save money. At the end, i have more savings and am able to invest on holidays or any other project I may have in mind. I have a monthly tracker for all my expenses in my bullet journal. If I have some money left at the end of the month, I can pick some items in my wishlist to finish the budget.
