+ a free printable map of the Paris stationery shops
Paris, besides its cultural highlights, is also a great place to shop. I don’t really shop clothes or home decor stuff, but I regularly try to visit new stationery shops to discover new brands and products.
I’m far from knowing all the stationery shops of Paris (I think it would be an endless work), but I gathered in this post and on a Paris city map the best stationery shops I’ve visited to share my best addresses with you! I hope you’ll like this Paris stationery shopping guide and maybe inspire you to visit this beautiful city if you didn’t get the chance to come yet!

Paris stationery shops: Les Halles – Rivoli
The stationery section of Muji in Les Halles mall – Picture : Biba
Muji Les Halles
1 Porte Pont Neuf, 75001 Paris
Opened Monday to Saturday from 10am to 8pm and Sundays from 1pm to 7pm
Muji has several shops in Paris, but this one is the biggest and the best one for stationery shopping. I’m a huge fan of Muji since I discovered the brand: I love the minimalistic look of their products and shop all my pens there.
Among this stationery shops list, Muji is definitely the cheaspest place. The shop features a wide range of notebooks with various sizes and grids you can get for a few euros. The prices are a bit higher for desk accessories but all the Muji products are made to last for long, and most of the pens are refillable.
It’s the perfect shop if you’re looking for notebooks and stationery supplies for daily use. On top of the A5 and A6 notebooks, Muji also sells B5 and B6 notebooks, which is not that common in France.
What you’ll find there: all the Muji products. The stationery section is well-stocked and features the Muji gel pens, dozens of notebooks in various sizes and storage products (archiving boxes, binders…). All the products are in line with the minimalistic style of the other Muji designs.
One of the best stationery shops in Paris: the Centre Pompidou’s bookstore – Picture : Pli magazine
Centre Pompidou’s bookstore
Place Georges Pompidou, 75004 Paris
Opened every day except on Tuesday, from 11am to 9:45pm
The Centre Pompidou is an amazing modern art museum located in the center of Paris. If you ever visited Paris, you probably have seen the colourful pipes of this funny building. It’s one of the highlights of the city, and one of my favourite places. I definitely recommend anyone visiting Paris to go there.
If most of the tourists just stay outside of the building, the inside has a hidden gem: the museum bookstore. If you don’t know the place, you could think that you need a ticket to enter the building, but the lines outside are actually just for security check and the entrance in the hall is free for everyone. That’s where you can access the bookshop.
It (of course) features loads of books about art, but also offers a wide range of stationery supplies. The Centre Pompidou has its own stationery designs in relation to the collections and exhibition of the museum. So if you’re a huge fan of modern art, you may find some notebooks of your taste there. The shop also offers a wide range of other brands stationery supplies. You can find hundreds of notebooks from Moleskine (I think they have almost all the Moleskine products), Nuuna, Fabriano, Write Sketch & and some small french brands such as Monsieur Papier or Papier Merveille.
If you’re planning to visit Paris, I would definitely recommend to pay the Centre Pompidou bookstore a visit
What you’ll find there: notebooks with the museum’s painting on the cover, and a wide range of great stationery supplies from well known brands (Moleskine, Fabriano, Nuuna…) and young French designers (Papier Merveille, Monsieur Papier…)
Le BHV Marais
52 rue de Rivoli, 75004 Paris
Opened Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 8pm and on Sundays from 11am to 7.30pm
The “Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville” is a French version of Harrods. A lot of Parisian shop there. It sells a lot of various items, from clothing to kitchen stuff, and has (almost) an entire floor dedicated to books, stationery and art supplies.
The stationery section is located on the 2nd floor. It features office stationery (binders and composition notebooks) as well as crafting and fine arts supplies. It’s a planner and notebook heaven: most famous stationery brands are there, and there’s also some (very) fancy fountain pens. The prices are quite high, but can vary a lot from a few euros for a simple notebook to dozens of euros for the fanciest planners.
What you’ll find there: various fine arts and stationery supplies. Filofax, Quo Vadis, Moleskine, Leuchtturm and Canson have a booth there. The stationery part is well-stocked and the fine arts section has a wide range of pens and pencils, including Tombow brush pens.
Paris stationery shops: Le Marais
The Papier Tigre stationery shop in Paris – Picture : Lili in Wonderland
Papier Tigre
5 Rue des Filles du Calvaire, 75003 Paris
Opened Monday to Friday from 11.30am to 7.30pm and Saturdays from 11am to 8pm
The Papier Tigre stationery shop is located in Le Marais which is one of the trendiest neighborhood of Paris. It’s actually more a workshop than just a shop, as the Papier Tigre’s graphic designers work in the backroom, creating the colourful and happy products of the brand. It’s a small shop that only features the Papier Tigre designs including notebooks, planners, but also greeting cards and wallpapers… The shop is entirely dedicated to stationery and paper goods.
It also sells some pens and desk accessories designed by Papier Tigre.
It’s the perfect address if you’re looking for a great gift for a paper lover or if you want to shop stationery supplies designed and made in France.
What you’ll find there: greeting cards and a wide range of notebooks, planners and mural calendars. The shop also sells fancy desk accessories and colourful pens designed by the Papier Tigre team.
Paper and office goods special exhibition at Merci Paris- Picture : Designbest
Merci
111 Boulevard Beaumarchais, 75003 Paris
Opened Monday to Saturday from 10am to 7.30pm
Merci is very close to the Papier Tigre shop. It’s a trendy concept store that sells, besides clothing and home decor stuff, a small stationery section. The stationery supplies section is quite small but have some amazing products. The products available are in line with the spirit of the place: they’re fancy and trendy. It’s honestly not cheap but the items generally worth the price.
The stationery range changes on a regular basis and Merci regularly creates capsule collections in partnership with talented designers. The last time I visited the shop, I found the Traveler’s Notebooks from the Traveler’s Company and notebooks from the French brand Louise Carmen.
What you’ll find there: a small stationery section among clothes and home decor items. The range of stationery changes on a regular basis. The products (notebooks, planners, pens and desk accessories) are trendy and of quality.
Paris stationery shops: Other districts
L’Atelier Nota is one of my favourites stationery shops in Paris – Picture : Costo
Atelier Nota
10 rue Ramey, 75018 Paris
Opened Monday to Saturday from 11am to 1pm and from 2pm to 7.30pm and Sundays from 11am to 1.30pm and 2.30pm to 7pm
Located near to the Sacré Coeur, this small stationery shop is very typical of Paris design shops. It’s full of stationery wonders: notebooks of various sizes, planners, pens, calendars… I was with a blogger friend when I visited the shop for the first time and Sarah, the owner, gave us both a super warm and friendly welcome!
Besides the friendliness of Sarah, I have to admit that I’ve been impressed by the products displayed in the shop. The finest stationery products I know were all there, and some of my favourite brands as well: the Quo Vadis planners and notebooks, le Carnet de projets de 23heures59 éditions, notebooks and writing tools from La Petite Papeterie Française, and Paper Republic’s travelers notebooks. I also discovered Papelote during this shopping session, and fell in love with their super simple notebooks.
What you’ll find there: notebooks, planners, Traveler’s Notebooks, cute and small stationery items… The shelves are full of gorgeous and fancy stationery supplies from European brands such as Papier Tigre, La Petite Papeterie Française, Paper Republic, Octagon Design, Papelote…
Lavrut
52 Passage Choiseul, 75002 Paris
Opened Monday to Friday from 9.15am to 7pm and Saturdays from 10am to 7pm
This shop is hidden in a gorgeous passage typical from Paris, near to the Opéra Garnier. It’s actually more a fine arts store than a stationery shop. Even though the stationery section is a bit hidden and messy, it’s full of wonders. It sometimes takes a bit of digging to find them.
The last time I visited this shop, the main table of the stationery section was dedicated to pretty common (still cute) notebooks and desk accessories. The notebooks and planners that are above average are located in the mural shelves. Moleskine notebooks are stored there, along with some small French brands products from La Petite Papeterie Française, Le Papier fait de la résistance and La Compagnie du Kraft.
What you’ll find there: mostly fine arts supplies but also some amazing stationery products from la Petite Papeterie Française, la Compagnie du Kraft or Midori
Paris stationery shopping map
Now if you plan to visit Paris or if you live nearby, here’s a map of the shops mentioned above. On the map you’ll find (of course) the location of the shops, but also opening times to make sure to show up on the right time. It’s meant to be printed and stored in your journal for reference when you’re out and about!
Side notes
- The museums gift shops are generally great places to shop stationery supplies too. I’m especially thinking of the MAD’s shop (5 minutes walk from the Louvre) and the Palais de Tokyo store (near the Eiffel tower). They both have a nice range of notebooks and desk accessories, designed in accordance with the museum collections or created by young designers and architects.
- Most of the fine arts shops feature a stationery section with notebooks and pens. So they’re definitely an option if you come across one of them during your walks in Paris. You will generally find some Moleskine products along with other notebooks but the collections aren’t always above average.
- I’m not quite done exploring Paris to find new stationery shops! So I’ll try to update the list with new addresses as I discover new shops. And if you have more suggestions of stationery shops to share, feel free to drop them in the comments!
